Synopsis
Televangelist C. Moore Golden declares, "…As Elijah the prophet prayed down and proclaimed a holy fire from God! I am sending down a fire! A Holy Fire! At the Holy Fire Convention! Send me your "Love Offerings" and I will promise you abundant blessings!"
Nashville, Tennessee is the setting for the Holy Fire Convention! One week during the coming of spring, the famous televangelist C. Moore Golden and his big haired wife "Miss" Beth Sheila arrive with their entourage: former Miss Mississippi, Tiffney Dawn Smalls and her husband Lewis Fate and Holy Fire Ministry business manager Brother Jude. It only takes a few hours for them to realize that a simple street minister, Jesse David Adams, is drawing too much media attention. Everyone is talking about this simple carpenter from Crossville, Tennessee who seems to possess powerful charm, charisma and wisdom.
In just a few days, lives are connected and intertwined like a true-to-life country song as Jesse David befriends a following of Tennesseans (mostly found at the "world famous Tootsie’s"). Maggie, a troubled young publicist and her close friend Pete—a professional fisherman and stand-up comedian---find themselves drawn into this man, Jesse David. As Jesse David slowly touches their lives, Maggie and Pete begin to realize this man is different. This man tells them that in the midst of life’s trials, there is hope and love…forever. Maggie ponders the question, "What does ‘forever’ mean?"
Meanwhile, the national media is drawn into the kidnapping of country star Wyvette Lurleen Love’s daughter. Miss Love, the darling of Nashville, is distraught as news unfolds of her missing daughter. She finds herself reminiscing about the young days in Nashville as she and her young daughter struggled to make ends meet. Miss Love tells of her coming to Nashville with just a "dime and a dollar." She tells of her real life angel,
Anthony Tyrone of the Chat’n Chew Diner, who kept the young starving artist and her daughter alive.
Soon, Jesse David’s path is crossing Anthony Tyrone’s. Anthony Tyrone is still ready and willing to feed another. With Anthony’s profound ability to look into eyes and study souls, he sees the true colors of this man called Jesse David. Anthony Tyrone
knows this man is real. Anthony Tyrone and Jesse David share their knowledge that "God is always with you." Anthony encourages Jesse to go out and teach the people.
The confusing world of media frenzy, televangelists and politics come to a head. "Miss" Beth Sheila demands her business manager Brother Jude do something about this man called Jesse David. Unknown to "Miss" Beth Sheila, Brother Jude already has a plan of his own. His brother-in-law, Governor Hennessee of Tennessee, has been receiving generous financial assistance from the Holy Fire Ministries for his upcoming political campaign. He and Brother Jude already have an "agreement."
Because Brother Jude has been such a faithful campaign worker--- anonymously, of course---and because Brother Jude has invaluable information for the governor’s wife regarding the governor and his press secretary--- the governor has promised him 30 acres of prime Tennessee real estate. Brother Jude knows what he has to do to protect his future and appease "Miss" Beth Sheila. He contemplates his plan to use Jesse David as a "scape goat" with assistance from the governor. Brother Jude carefully orchestrates his master plan as he continues his financial records of Jesus rhinestone pins, "Miss" Beth Sheila CDs and ministry shipments from the Philippines.
When an arrest is made for the kidnapping and alleged murder of Wyvette Lurleen’s daughter, the climax of the story reaches an all high. Through the act of betrayal and the drive for political and greedy financial gains---the innocent is pulled into the game.
Anthony Tyrone and Jesse David’s followers hold an all night prayer vigil.
As night hours tick away, "Miss" Beth Sheila sings to the Holy Fire Convention followers of an innocent man who was crucified. He had to die. She sings, "Forgive them for they know not what they do." While backdrops of fallen confetti cover the Holy Fire stage and "Quartet Angels" sing to the masses, Jesse David’s and Wyvette Lurleen’s lives parallel--- but then take unexpected turns.
The Holy Fire Convention is a financial success. C. Moore Golden and his ministry team are media stars. "Miss" Beth Sheila has achieved her goal.
Betrayal, deception, and lies take center stage at the Holy Fire Convention--- and those strong human passions play as well off stage in the lives of the players. But Jesse David’s teachings of truth and love prevail, "Love is the ultimate goal."
"The morning brings light and shades of night are gone.
In the morning…everything’s new…"
